OCTOS Mission

OCTOS was formed in 1996 as a non-profit, tax exempt, public benefit corporation, dedicated to the preservation and use of theatre pipe organs and theatre organ music. Its primary purpose is to maintain and support the Fullerton High School Plummer Auditorium Wurlitzer pipe organ, which was originally installed in 1930. OCTOS is a chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS).

This association has been of great value to both organizations. The High School District owns Plummer Auditorium as well as the organ, and makes both available for presentation of concerts. OCTOS, in turn, has contributed much in volunteer effort and materials for the direct benefit of the organ in maintenance and upgrades.

Every year, ATOS holds a national convention which is hosted by one of the affiliated chapters. In 2005, the Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society (LATOS) chapter will be hosting the convention. The Plummer organ will be used for one of the convention venues.

The Plummer Wurlitzer is a real treasure, and deserves to be preserved for future generations. It has undergone considerable refurbishing and expansion so that it has now become one of the outstanding instruments in the country. It has been used over the past several years for a number of formal concerts featuring nationally known theatre organists and has been recorded for four compact disc record albums, with more to come. It will continue to provide a source of entertainment and education in the future, but only if it receives support from volunteers and the public at large.

Membership in OCTOS will provide you with the knowledge that you are supporting a worthy cause, and in addition, afford you with the many benefits outlined below.
